Spock Your Fivers - NEW SINGLE

[ˈspɑːk jɔː ˈfaɪvəz]

The act of doctoring, or defacing, the portrait on a five-dollar Canadian bill in order to make the portrait resemble Spock (Leonard Nimoy) from the TV show Star Trek.

Spock Your Fivers is the name of my brand new two track single release, a project finally completed after a couple of months of laboring over the details of its creation.

As opposed to prior work I wanted to approach this project more from the perspective of process rather than production.

Most notable part of said process was the decision to use only analog sources and to limit the instruments to two for each track. In addition, I recorded each instrument and managed all added analog effects live and in its entirety for each track, severely lengthening and complicating the recording process. The results of this process were equally laborious and satisfying as the puzzle pieces of each track slowly connected and grew into a cohesive product.

Regarding instrumentation, you will find the title track Spock Your Fivers to be created entirely with the use of the Arturia Minibrute synthesizer and two sets of guitars. The second track, Corn Flakes Dinner For One, similarly consists of sounds solely built with the Korg Volca FM synth (as well as the obvious addition of the field recording of this particular Corn Flakes dinner).

As always I’m proud of each project I manage to complete but feel a special kind of love for these tracks in particular due to the strenuous process involved in their physical and emotional creation.

Please check out Spock Your Fivers, now live on all major streaming services.
